NON TOXIC MARINE COATING TO GET THE NOD
CREATIVE COATINGS CORP. will introduce a new marine underwater coating. Photo Finish is a non-toxic epoxy based foul release system that is specifically designed to protect vessel hulls from marine fouling.
After two years of testing in high fouling waters in San Diego, Creative Coatings has decided to start distribution for sale in the summer of this year. “With copper bottom paints proven toxic release in our waters and the governments mandate to improve water and air quality standards, our mission is to provide the boat owner with a low cost, high quality alternative that exceeds current performance standards on several fronts” says Marlan Hoffman, Creative Coatings Partner. “We have been testing other manufactures non toxic coatings for years and the problem with these products is the expense vs. performance equation. When testing and comparing Photo Finish to copper the comparisons are much more balanced and Photo Finish outperforms copper on several levels such as durability and longevity. This ultimately results in cost savings to the boat owner.”
Photo Finish is designed to be used directly over existing coatings or directly on bare fiberglass hulls. The coating is also formulated to hold up to the rigors of hull cleaning over multiple seasons. Creative Coatings Corp says that typical application costs of Photo Finish are the same or less than that of copper bottom paints. “This is because there are no special application procedures that tend to drive the price up for the boatyard” says Hoffman.
Photo Finish will come in a wide variety of colors including White and Black. Creative Coatings representatives say the wholesale price will start at just under one hundred dollars per gallon and is scheduled for distribution in time for the summer boating season.
